Tessa Maria Thompson was born in Charlottesville, VA. Her passion for service started at a very young age. As a youth, she volunteered and worked with children throughout her community.
As a teen/ young adult, she adopted the name Ms. Tessa because often she was the youngest leader among educational and communal organizations. Her contributions and influence are still recognized by those whom she impacted.
Ms. Tessa completed a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Virginia Union University. To further her educational development, Ms. Tessa earned a Master’s in Divinity from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA.
She is the founder of Ms. Tessa Community Care and Consulting where she functions as an educator, author/storyteller, community advocate and consultant. Her areas of specialty include child care, early childhood education, youth empowerment, community care, resource advocacy, social/relational transformation and development.
After becoming a mom Ms. Tessa relocated back to her hometown and currently works as an instructional assistant while also pursuing her entrepreneurial endeavors. She published her first children story, Leef No Ordinary Lizard in September 2017. It is the story of a little lizard on a journey to find out what makes him extraordinary. In the end, he discovers that the thing that makes him extraordinary is that Leef is himself. Since then she has shared her story and it’s inspirational message with students and children throughout her community and across the nation
